Damage

We all perceive damage in our own distinctive ways. Damage is perceived as a negative, but from it can rise enormously powerful and positive motivators. If we shy away from damage, which is all around us, and do not acknowledge it, we will not learn to grow, improve, and do better. 

The Grief Knot is based on an actual sailors knot that is called a Grief Knot, and I have used this knot for a number of huge emotional situations or tragedies that I have felt deeply moved by.

Grief Knot 01 was based on the London Bombing, Grief Knot 02 was about the Afghanistan War, Grief Knot 03 was about the Grenfell Tower Fire in London, and Grief Knot 04 became part of another artwork called the Plastic Spell, and now with Grief Knot 05 this all about oil, and plastic pollution, and is called the Midas Touch. All that gold but you cannot eat gold it does not sustain us if it destroys our oceans health. 

I have felt grief, and sadness for others with all of these situations, and so how to express those emotions in a collective way.

This Grief Knot gives the framework, and inside the knot is the area in which to tell the story.
